About Michiel: Your Host on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug
In the background and usually present, feel free to knock on the door!
Your host Michiel Nouwens
Hi, I'm Michiel. I've been running Logies op Dreef in Driebergen since 2016. What started as renovating a dilapidated fruit farm from 1922 has grown into a place where my three passions converge: hospitality, good coffee, and nature.
I've lived in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug for 40 years. I know the forest trails that aren't on Google Maps, know where to get the best coffee, and love sharing this place with people who, like me, seek peace and quiet.

From City Dweller to Outdoor Living
I worked in the city for years, but my heart always lay in the outdoors. Weekends at the Heuvelrug were my escape. When I came across this characteristic building in 1999, I immediately saw its potential. Not to create a standard hotel, but a place with personality.
The goal was simple: The comfort of a B&B, with the freedom of your own home.
That's why I've chosen studios with their own entrance, bathroom, and kitchen. You'll have 100% privacy. I live next door, so I'm there when you need me, but invisible when you want peace and quiet.
My first guests arrived in the summer of 2016, while I was still renovating. A couple from Amsterdam, looking for some peace and quiet after a busy work week. They arrived, saw the construction mess... and loved it."Not a corporate hotel, but a place where someone is really busy creating something beautiful."
Why Stay with a Local?
At a large hotel, you'd be room number 12. With me, you'd be a guest on my property. That means you'd benefit from the knowledge of someone who lives here.
The Coffee (my Passion)
I don't believe in weak hotel coffee. My journey into the world of specialty coffee taught me that beans must be fresh. That's why you'll find a professional bean-to-cup machine in every room for the perfect espresso.
"Guests often ask me which beans I use. The answer? A locally roasted specialty that I drink every morning myself."
Nature & Bees
Next to the studios are my beehives. Beekeeping has taught me to look at nature more attentively. Our bees fly to the flowers of the Dennenburg Estate (your view!). raw honey what they make is available exclusively to guests.

The Best Routes (40 Years of Experience)
I've been walking here for four decades. I'm not directing you to the crowded places, but to:
- The "morning route" through De Groene Long (directly from your studio).
- The hidden paths of the Cape Forests.
- The best terraces where the locals sit.
(I've collected my 21 best tips in a Free Travel Guide, which you can download immediately.)
What Guests Value
After hosting over a thousand guests, I find that it's often the little things that stick.
""Michiel is the perfect host: there when you need him for a tip or help, but he completely respects your privacy."" — Lisa & Tom
""The passion for coffee and bees is infectious. We came for the peace and quiet, but went home with a jar of honey and barista skills."" — Mark
